      伴马河畔，空降兵某部副营长扬亿与电子专家谷晓楠双人跳伞，突袭“敌”前沿指挥所得手后，取得了电脑指挥系统的关键数据。但由于杨亿的轻敌致使谷晓楠被“敌方”抓获。杨亿被罚到伞训队当教官，负责军直单位女军官补训，这些俏皮的大女孩常常弄得他哭笑不得，大感英雄气短……

[/td][/tr][/table]为特战大队的大队长，而教导员恰是刚刚在突袭演习中交过手的陈超。两个人虽在带兵理念上有矛盾，但一武一文相互配合，特战大队战斗力迅速提高。战斗装具研究员方亦虹和电脑奇才谷晓楠调入大队后，更如猛虎添翼……
　　特战大队为在大规模空降作战演习中不辱尖刀使命，在黑山峡进行了残酷的野战生存训练，队员们经受了炼狱般的优胜劣汰考验，“苦其心志，劳其筋骨”的险恶环境不仅锻炼了他们的作战本领，更捶打了特种兵的钢铁意志……
　　汉州“垂直打击”实施中，虎师和由它指挥的特战大队与对手鹰师、豹师斗勇斗狠，斗智斗巧，把空降兵的战术特色和技术手段发挥得淋漓尽致。方亦虹为了尽快解决特型伞存在的问题，冒险试验受了伤，用自己的身残换来了成功，爱慕着她的陈超决心与她终身相伴……
　　“斩首行动”把剧情推向了危机和高潮，为抓获亲自扮演“敌酋”的谷军长，杨亿与“敌”指挥部捉起了迷藏，谷军长利用丰富经验，给特战大队出了诸多难题，而杨亿率领的特战大队已在九九八十一难中练就了真功，他们频出险招令“敌”难以应付，并得到军长女儿谷晓楠的鼎力相助……
　　电视剧《垂直打击》突出表现了我军官兵为打赢现代化战争殚精竭虑，真练真打的火热生活。全剧用扣人心弦的紧张冲突和连环悬念，最大限度营造出逼真的战场气氛，塑造了一组勇武过人、智慧超人、性格迷人的特种兵形象。
