Having firmly ruled out retiring from the beautiful game, Ronaldo's thoughts have now turned to his return to action after injury. And while the forward is desperate to repay the faith of everyone at AC Milan, he believes a loan move would be the ideal way to regain form and fitness.
"The idea is for me to play a few months in Brazil and, if everything goes well, I'd then go back to Milan," the player told Italian daily the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I'm assuming I'll go to Flamengo," continued the three-times FIFA World Player. "I've got a very good relationship with Milan. The club will always keep the door open for me, but I need to be up to the challenge."
Ronaldo went on to underline his fondness for the Carioca outfit, his childhood team, and denied supporting either Real Madrid or Barcelona, despite spells at both Spanish giants.
"My time with Real Madrid lasted longer, but the club I really support are Flamengo. It's incredible how football can generate such excitement and passion. And that's how I felt as a child too, I was always trying to get the players' autographs and watching them train."
"My dad always used to take me to the Maracana to watch Flamengo. At that time Zico was playing for them and they'd always put on a show," added the Rossoneri frontman.
